It’s hard to imagine a more idyllic location to spend
time sightseeing than such a
historically rich architectural paradise as the ancient renaissance
city of Firenze. The main attractions of renaissance Firenze
are literally a stone’s throw away from the Florence
Hotel Calzaiuoli.
The Duomo and Campanile di Giotto
dominate the city skyline with an air of beauty and grace.
The Baptistery of Saint John and the golden ‘Gates of
Paradise’ also reside in the Duomo area of the city.
The Ponte Vecchio Bridge stands just a short
distance from the Duomo area. This splendid example
of medieval architecture spans the river Arno at its narrowest
point.
The Ponte Vecchio is famous for its array of jewellery shops,
which line each side of the bridge.
The Uffizi gallery is another must for any art lover
who visits the city. The Uffizi was the first public
Art Gallery in the world.
The Tuscan capital is filled with pedestrian shopping areas
that play host to some of the biggest fashion boutiques in
the world. Local designers like Roberto Cavalli and Gucci
have an important place in Florence, as do many other big
name fashion houses based in the city. The streets of Florence
are donned with artisans and artists and many interesting
craft and gift shops. There are restaurants and wine bars
in abundance so you will have no problems trying out the local
cuisine and local wines.
The Hotel Calzaiuoli, Florence 4 Star Hotel, is also perfectly
placed for both of Florence’s markets, Il Mercato
della Paglia (the straw market) and Il Mercato
di San Lorenzo.
